Light Therapy or better known as Color Therapy is the use of light and color in order to
alter physical and mental health in a holistic approach. A common misconception is that Color
Therapy can only be visually interpreted when in reality your skin also absorbs light.
It is believed the frequencies and the oscillating movements of these light particles can stimulate
hormones releasing chemicals such as dopamine throughout the brain and body.
Naturally, colors have an effect on everyone, and the reactions to color, in general, vary among
the entire demographic.
Color Therapy however is no recent phenomenon, it can be noted as one of the most
ancient holistic practices, going back 2000 years! The holistic practice itself has been studied and
improved throughout the centuries.

This comes as no surprise since Philosopher and Architect, Rudolph Steiner has known to draw the correlation between color, shape, sound, and form. Steiner mentions time and time again that certain combinations of color and shape had either destructive or regenerative effects on living organisms.
Color Therapy has a direct positive impact on the human body both physically and mentally. The FDA has approved light therapy for a variety of treatments that range from fat burning, acne treatment, anti-aging, and pain relief. The herbal medicine in ancient Persia has a strong root in this kind of therapy and wellness. Amazingly, colors of spice also can change heart rate, blood pressure, and respiration, as Keith Jacobs discovered in 1974.
It is amazing to see the incorporation of everyday colors which we would normally see on a canvas be transferred and used to heal everyday people.
Famed artist, Bosco Sodi is very vocal about the uplifting positive impact color and art can have on a person’s mental health. “I have always loved color, I believe in the power of color, I believe in the
healing power of color.”- Says Sodi.
From Architects, Philosophers, Artists, and Doctors it is scientifically and holistically proven that Color Therapy indeed has an underlying role in human being’s mental and physical health.
With that being said, even different clothing colors can affect and reflect your mood, behavior, and stress levels say color consultant Mary E Lapp.
Now you can have different ways of thing about colors: You can pick the color based on mood or you can pick a color to change your mood.
